Espresso machines, cuckoo clocks and buttons, Oh My! Repair Fair Recap – June 18 @ Hillsboro Library

This clock got its chime back

First, the numbers! About 32 people brought in 51 items for repair.  More than half of those left fixed or “in progress”.  Thank you to the Hillsboro Library for hosting us in the big room.

Repair of the day

I had a tough time figuring out the repair of the day – was it the cuckoo clock, the toaster, the box fan? – all contenders.  However, I think the microwave was a good one, because we saw it last year too.  A couple had brought the microwave to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore event back in November.  I think it was Stuart and Richard who diagnosed the issue back then – and that couple came back on Saturday with the microwave and a new fuse.  After Richard and Jason helped install the part, the microwave seemed to be working once again. Nice work!

Caitlin demonstrates how to sew a button that stays put.  A new addition to the Repair Fair – skillzz mini-class.

Speaking of skillzzz, zippers seemed to be a thing.  Did you know that UCAN Zippers, one of the last few US zipper manufacturers (so I read), has some great zipper repair tutorials on The IMG_20160618_145708810.jpgYoutube?
